Castrated male yearlings
Castrated yearlings
Young castrated males (expressions of interest now open)
We only welcome a small number of crias each year, so these young boys are very special to us. We are now taking expressions of interest for our male crias, who will be castrated prior to leaving for their forever homes, once they are old enough and ready.
These boys are being raised with careful handling and excellent husbandry, and they are developing into a healthy, robust and well-bonded group. Because they are closely bonded, we would strongly prefer to place them together as a small companion herd, where they can continue to thrive with the security of familiar herd mates.
In addition to being delightful companion alpacas, they will produce beautiful fleece suitable for handspinning, felting and other fibre crafts, making them an ideal choice for fibre enthusiasts who also want the joy of keeping alpacas.
They will be available after weaning and once old enough for castration, with timing dependent on their individual development and welfare.
Approved homes only: These youngsters will be sold only to approved homes that meet our criteria and can provide lifelong care. Alpacas can live up to 20–25 years, so we are committed to placing them with owners who understand the long-term responsibility and routine management needs.
A key part of our placement process is ensuring new owners feel confident and supported. Owners must be willing to learn and be educated with us (complimentary) in kind, stress-free handling and alpaca healthcare, and to maintain high health and welfare standards for the entire lifetime of the animals.
Ideal home:
Large acreage (minimum 5 acres of pasture), small farm
Owners willing to learn stress-free handling and alpaca healthcare with our guidance (complimentary)
Commitment to maintaining health and welfare standards for life
Secure fencing and appropriate shelter
Will be kept as a bonded group (preferred)
Fibre enthusiasts interested in spinning/felting their fleece
Owners willing to meet routine care requirements, including shearing, vaccination, vitamin D supplementation, supplementary hay as needed, health checks and ongoing management
